For society, in all its complexity,
loves and needs its monsters,
those figures of darkness,
harbingers of fear,
stirring our hearts and thoughts.

They emerge from the recesses,
clad in enigma’s cloak,
with jagged edges, piercing eyes,
provoking, unsettling, re-provoking.
We are both repulsed and enthralled,
by their wickedness and might,
for they embody the primal forces
that lurk within our own inner night.

Their tales spun like ancient legends,
passed down through time,
whispered around the campfire,
etched in verses and rhyme.
In their vile acts, twisted minds,
we glimpse our own reflection,
for within the human soul resides
a spectrum vast, complex in its connection.

We crave the monsters, the ones
who defy our moral codes,
challenging our complacency,
exposing flaws in societal modes.
They beckon us…
